Terms

The short version: be honest, don't be cruel, and remember it's permanent.

Last updated 2026. Plain-English, on purpose — this isn't meant to read like a contract.

1. What this is

My Brain at 2 AM is a place to write something you never sent to someone, post it anonymously with a color you choose, and have it join a public wall alongside what other people have written. There's no account, no login, and nothing here is delivered to the person it's addressed to.

2. What this isn't

This isn't therapy, a crisis line, or a substitute for professional support. If you're in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to a local emergency service or a crisis line where you are — this site isn't built or staffed to help in the moment the way they are.

3. Anonymity

We don't ask for your name, email, or any identifying information to post. We don't want it. What you write is stored with a timestamp and the color you picked — nothing that ties it back to you.

4. Once it's posted, it's permanent

Entries can't be edited or deleted through the site once submitted. There's no "undo." If you're not sure you want something up forever, give it a little longer before you post it.

5. What you can't post

Everything here is public and permanent, so a few lines matter:

  • No identifying details about someone else that could let a stranger find them (full names, addresses, phone numbers, social handles, workplaces).
  • No threats, harassment, or content directed at causing someone real-world harm.
  • No sexual content involving minors, in any form.
  • Nothing illegal to post where you live.

Everything else — anger, regret, love, confessions, grief, whatever it is — is exactly what this place is for.

6. Moderation

We don't review entries before they go live. We do remove entries that clearly break section 5 when they're reported or found, without notice and without needing your permission — there's no account to notify anyway.

7. Ownership

What you write is yours. By posting it, you're allowing it to be displayed publicly on this site, as-is, indefinitely. We won't sell it, license it to advertisers, or use it to train anything without saying so first.

8. Age

You should be old enough, wherever you live, to agree to terms like these on your own — generally 13 and up with a guardian's okay, or 16–18 depending on where you are. If you're not sure, ask a parent or guardian before posting.

9. Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after that means you've accepted the update.

10. Contact

Questions, takedown requests, or something that needs reporting — reach out through the contact details on the About page once they're set up.
